I started cycling when my dad put me on my tricycle age 3 then upgraded my three wheels to two and had me pushing off from an upturned milk crate on the garden lawn.
I grew up in the pretty Thames Valley around Pangbourne where we had a road system devoid of traffic and one I was keen to explore from an early age. In the nineties, I traded up my Kalkhoff Tristar for a hybrid Dawes 18-S and started on charity rides – London-Cambridge, Oxford and five times to Paris.
After a spate of activity at London 2012 where I was a scenic artist and a performer at the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games, I turned my attention to British Cycling, joined their SkyRide programme and qualified as a level one ride leader leading rides all over London and the home counties.
By now I was riding a Boardman comp hybrid and an Orbea Bios. Both bikes travel abroad with me to France, Crete and Mallorca and in sportives including the ultimate sportive RideLondon100. In 2014 I qualified as a Cytech level 2 mechanic, founded Love Your Bike, and have supported Deloitte Ride Across Britain from Lands End to John O-Groats, London Freecycle and numerous charity bike build events. I now live and breathe cycling and bike maintenance in the beautiful coastal scenery of North Cornwall and North Devon.
